The LSJ will evaluate your fiction manuscript, and provide you with a detailed report which will cover the following points:
| • Plot | ||
| |
• Premise | |
| |
• Setting | |
| |
• Character | |
| |
• Point of View | |
| |
• Market Positioning | |
| |
• Recommendations |
You will receive a detailed editorial assessment which is contained in an eight to twelve page report, with summary recommendations and advice.
We have an example of a manuscript, and the report associated with it, which you can download and read, so that you can see how our tutors carry out an evaluation.
After receiving your evaluation, you may ask any questions resulting from the reviewer’s comments. These questions should be submitted by email, and all responses will also be by email. Authors who wish further assistance with their writing after their evaluation may enrol on our mentoring program.
Where the reviewer is of the opinion that the manuscript is exceptional, we are able to recommend authors to agencies or publishers. But the LSJ is not in the business of flattering to deceive – you will receive an honest and reasoned review of what you have written.
With 90 years of teaching experience, we have a real pedigree in guiding writers and critiquing their fiction. Depending on the number of words, we would expect to complete our review within four to six weeks.
Please make sure your manuscript is produced in a 12 point font (arial or helvetica are preferable) double-spaced and saved as an rtf, doc or pdf file ready to email to us.
All mss. must be submitted electronically. After completing the enrolment form, email your ms to mss@lsj.org (put the reference number given on your enrolment confirmation page in the subject line).
Please read our terms and conditions. This service does not provide specific copy editing or proof reading.
